5 things to do in the school holidays
School can be pretty hectic and for many is mainly a cause of stress and exhaustion, so when the holidays come around it should be a time to relax! But while the weight of homework and studying isn’t lingering, suddenly it seems like there is nothing to do, so that’s what I will show you today!
1. Try some cooking:
Cooking can definitely seem scary, or overwhelming at first as there’s so much to do, so many ingredients, precise measurements, but it is an adventure and tasting the final product is always the best.
And sometimes, the final product may be… gross, I’ve been there, but without experimentation and failure you will never grow!
Cooking is also a great way to pass the time in general!
As you can see here, I tried to make some brownies! I won’t lie they were nice but I also had my downfalls in some places too. They turned out a bit too bitter for my liking and crumbly but I can improve on that in the future!
2. Try declutter or get organised
Declutter your life! While it may seem like a chore tidying your area or room can boost your productivity by a mile!
A study on the effects of clutter in the house shows that people who were overwhelmed by the amount of things increased their procrastination. Tidying your space does not have to be a chore though!
Play some tunes or watch a video in the background and try cleaning up. In my case, it gets kinda therapeutic. Decluttering also applies to your phone, try delete any unnecessary files and etc.
3. Try out a new hobby or work on your own
Now this is one you may have heard a lot, but you don’t know where to start! I can understand, especially since there are so many options or, like me, you don’t have that many resources!
First things first, what are you interested in? Do you like art? Or are you just looking for something to relax to? Then you could try painting or drawing, but just take it at your own pace and don’t try make it a competition to get the best.
You may have to buy some supplies like paints but for simple drawing you just need a pencil and a rubber.
There are many online hobbies too, like discord server creation or graphic design with many tutorials on YouTube to get you started!
4. Hang out with friends!
This is really easy to do and can be lots of fun! Go visit a fair with them, or just hang out in the park. Or you could get a drink or watch a movie. The options are endless!
But if you’re like me and your friends aren’t close by then you can organise events through social media like discord!
Some really good websites for hanging out that I personally like are games like gartic phone and skribbl.io. Both drawing games that can end up being extremely funny!
Discord specifically has inbuilt activities like YouTube together where you can (like the title suggests) watch YouTube with your friends!
5. Get Active!
Now, for our final tip! This one is pretty simple and I understand sometimes it may be hard to actually step outside, especially if you just can’t be bothered, but the fresh air is very relieving!
If you don’t know where to go then open up google maps and find any area that you haven’t been to before like a forest or anything! Treat the place you live in as if you are a tourist, exploring it like it’s your first visit!
Personally, I love to cycle so that’s what I get up to!
In conclusion…
These are some tips to help you out and I hope you have some ideas now for spending your holidays! Skedaddler out!
